Our dance upon a star programme is aimed at children from 18 months to 5 years old.
The programme has specifically been created to install a love of dance from an early age, so that they are learning without realising it! We do activities and use music that will particularly appeal to the children to make the whole class an enjoyable experience. In addition to this, we also use elements of the EYFS to aid their overall development.
Once the children complete the programme, they will ‘graduate’ into the main dance academy and we host our own show at the end of the year, which only features these young children so that they get their chance to shine. They will also graduate at this special show, and receive a certificate, which will be presented to them on stage.
Classes will be held in the following villages in Bedfordshire: Westoning, Barton-le-clay and Harlington.
Class Descriptions
Dance with me Ballet (18months - 3years)
A parent participation dance experience, using props, imaginative and exciting content, which will particularly appeal to this age group. A fun and active class, where the children begin to learn to listen to an instructor in a structured environment. A wonderful first experience of dance, which has often been referred to as ‘More than just a ballet class!’
Preschool Ballet (3-4 years)
With the children now showing more independence, it is time for the parents to take a backseat and allow the children to participate in the class themselves. Yet again the children will be learning in a fun and imaginative environment but will be building on their technical ballet skills. They will experience creative movement to age related music, and with the emphasis on enjoyment the classes all include lots of exciting ideas to develop their imaginations.
Pre-Primary Ballet (4-5 years)
In these classes we begin to follow elements from the ISTD Ballet syllabus, which will aid the children when they begin to work towards their very first Ballet Examination. We want the children to practise their ballet technique to the highest standard, however the focus is still on enjoyment.
Mini Groovers (4-5 years)
In these exciting and energetic classes for boys and girls we will be teaching a combination of MODERN and TAP dance. We have lots of upbeat and creative movement phrases for the children to enjoy, whilst learning the basics of the two dance styles. We use age related music and themes that the children will enjoy to inspire them to dance and help them grasp the technique.
Mini Acro (4-5 years)
Fun and energetic classes designed to teach the children the basic gymnastic skills. We follow the Pre-School Acrobatic Arts syllabus, which focuses on flexibility, strength, mobility and balance, and leads the children onto learn how to correctly execute popular gymnastic tricks such as cartwheels, handstands and rolls in a safe environment.
